Refers to the sin of
Sodom in the Old Testament, the morally corrupt city destroyed along
with the city of Gomorrah for their immoral sins of the flesh.

Church
Teaching:
- "In the
Gospel, too, Christ the Lord says: From the heart come forth
adulteries and fornications, which defile a man. The Apostle
Paul expresses his detestation of this crime frequently, and
in the strongest terms: This is the will of God, your
sanctification, that you should abstain from fornication;
Fly fornication; Keep not company with fornicators;
Fornication, and an uncleanness and covetousness, let it not
so much as be named among you; Neither fornicators nor
adulterers, nor the effeminate nor sodomites shall possess
the kingdom of God. Catechism of the Council of Trent,
The Sixth commandment, Other Sins Against Chastity Are
Forbidden
We now come to the remedies which consist in action. The
first is studiously to avoid idleness; for, according to
Ezechiel, it was by yielding to the enervating influence of
idleness that the Sodomites plunged into the most shameful
crime of criminal lust. Catechism of the Council of
Trent, The Sixth commandment, Avoidance Of Idleness
- "Therefore
it was against the lord Jesus Christ himself that they fell
into the sin of impious apostasy, the abominable vice of
idolatry, the deadly crime of the Sodomites, and various
heresies." Council of Vienne, 14th-century
- "8 Q:
Which are the sins that are said to cry to God for
vengeance?
A: The sins that are said to cry to God for vengeance are
these four: (1) Willful murder; (2) The sin of sodomy; (3)
Oppression of the poor; (4) Defrauding laborers of their
wages." The Catechism of Saint Pius X, The Vices and
Other Very Grievous Sins
- "Thirdly,
by copulation with an undue sex, male with male, or female
with female, as the Apostle states (Rm. 1:27): and this is
called the "vice of sodomy." Summa Theologica, Sins
against nature
- "Theologians
ordinarily distinguish various forms of lust in so far as it
is a consummated external sin, e.g., fornication, adultery,
incest, criminal assault, abduction, and sodomy."
Catholic Encyclopedia, Lust
Summary
Scripture is incredibly
clear on what God thinks of the vice of sodomy. There is no confusing
it, no true Catholic can live or condone such a lifestyle.
